Feeding: The collected waste plastics are transported to the production line through the automatic feeding device, which can adjust the feeding speed according to the production demand to ensure the continuity of material supply.
Pretreatment: First of all, the waste plastic is initially sorted and broken, the obvious impurities and large foreign bodies are removed, and the plastic is broken into the appropriate size for subsequent cleaning and processing.
Cleaning: The pre-treated plastic enters the cleaning tank, and is fully cleaned under the joint action of the cleaning liquid and the stirring device. The cleaning solution adopts a special formula, which can effectively dissolve and remove the oil, dirt and other impurities on the plastic surface. At the same time, the high pressure spray system is used to wash the plastic in an all-round way to further improve the cleaning effect.
Dehydration: The cleaned plastic is dehydrated through the dewatering device, and the water on the surface of the plastic is quickly removed by centrifugal dehydration or extrusion dehydration, reducing the energy consumption and time of the subsequent drying process.
Drying: The dehydrated plastic enters the drying equipment, and the residual water in the plastic is completely removed through hot air circulation or vacuum drying, so that the plastic can reach the ideal dry state and meet the requirements of subsequent processing.
Discharge: The recycled plastic after drying is transported to the finished product storage area through the discharge device, which can be directly packaged or transported to the subsequent processing equipment for reprocessing.
The High Efficiency and Energy-Conserving Waste Plastic Cleaning Line is an integrated plastic washing and processing system designed to clean, separate, dewater, and prepare waste plastics for further recycling. It provides a practical solution for recycling companies, plastic processing plants, waste management businesses, and material recovery facilities that need to convert contaminated plastic waste into cleaner and more manageable recycled feedstock.
Waste plastics collected from post-consumer, post-industrial, agricultural, commercial, and packaging applications often contain dirt, dust, sand, labels, paper, organic residues, metals, oil, and other contaminants. These impurities can reduce the quality of recycled plastic and affect downstream extrusion, pelletizing, or reprocessing.
A properly configured plastic cleaning line can combine multiple processing stages to remove different types of contamination. Depending on the feedstock, the system may include feeding, shredding, crushing, wet washing, friction washing, floating separation, rinsing, dewatering, drying, conveying, and collection equipment.
Integrated Waste Plastic Cleaning
The main purpose of the cleaning line is to provide continuous mechanical processing of contaminated plastic waste.
Incoming plastic is first fed into the system and prepared for subsequent washing. Depending on the material, a shredder or crusher can reduce the plastic into smaller pieces, increasing the effective contact area during washing.
The prepared plastic then passes through one or more washing and separation stages. Different equipment configurations can be selected according to the type and concentration of contamination.
The final material can be dewatered and dried before being transferred to storage, extrusion, pelletizing, or other recycling processes.
Suitable for Different Waste Plastics
Plastic waste varies significantly in shape, contamination, density, and material type. Therefore, the washing line should be configured according to the actual feedstock.
Suitable applications may include waste PE film, PP woven bags, agricultural plastic film, PET bottles, HDPE containers, rigid plastic packaging, post-industrial plastic scraps, and other compatible plastic materials.
Different plastics may require different combinations of shredding, washing, friction cleaning, density separation, rinsing, and drying.
Plastic Shredding and Size Reduction
Shredding or crushing is often an important first step in plastic washing.
Large plastic items can be reduced into smaller pieces to make subsequent washing more effective. A suitable crusher or shredder can also help create a more consistent material size for downstream equipment.
The appropriate cutting system depends on the type, thickness, hardness, and shape of the plastic waste.
For film, woven bags, rigid containers, bottles, and mixed plastics, different size-reduction configurations may be considered.
Intensive Plastic Washing
The washing section removes contaminants from the plastic surface through mechanical agitation and water contact.
Depending on the line configuration, high-speed friction washing equipment can generate mechanical action that helps remove dirt, sand, paper residues, and other attached contaminants.
A hot washing stage may also be considered for certain heavily contaminated plastic materials, particularly when oil, grease, adhesive residues, or other difficult contaminants are present.
The actual washing method should be selected according to the material and required cleanliness.
Floating and Sinking Separation
Density-based separation can be used to separate compatible plastic materials or remove certain contaminants.
In a float-sink tank, materials with different densities behave differently in water. Suitable plastics can float while heavier materials sink, allowing the system to separate selected fractions.
This method is commonly used in plastic recycling systems where material density differences can support the desired separation process.
The effectiveness depends on the plastic type, contamination, water conditions, and material mixture.
Friction Washing
Friction washing provides intensive mechanical cleaning by forcing plastic pieces to move against each other and against internal washing surfaces.
This mechanical action can help remove stubborn surface contamination and improve the cleanliness of the washed material.
Friction washers can be positioned at different stages of a washing line depending on the material characteristics and desired cleaning level.
Dewatering and Drying
After wet washing, plastic material contains residual water and requires dewatering before storage or further processing.
A centrifugal dewatering machine can mechanically remove a substantial portion of surface water from suitable plastic materials.
Additional thermal or air drying equipment can be included when a lower moisture content is required for extrusion or pelletizing.
The final moisture level depends on the material, dewatering equipment, drying configuration, and operating conditions.
Energy-Conserving System Design
Energy efficiency is an important consideration for industrial plastic recycling operations.
The washing line can be designed with coordinated equipment, efficient motors, controlled water circulation, and appropriate processing stages to avoid unnecessary energy and water consumption.
Water can potentially be filtered and recirculated within the washing system, reducing fresh-water demand where the process design permits.
Actual energy and water consumption depends on the plastic type, contamination level, processing capacity, washing temperature, equipment configuration, and operating conditions.
Water Recycling System
Plastic washing can generate wastewater containing dirt, suspended solids, organic contaminants, and other impurities.
A suitable water treatment and circulation system can be incorporated into the washing line to separate contaminants and allow suitable process water to be reused.
Depending on the feedstock and local requirements, the system may include sedimentation tanks, filtration, screening, water circulation pumps, or other treatment equipment.
This approach can help reduce water consumption and improve overall process management.
Continuous Material Conveying
Conveyors and material transfer systems connect the individual stages of the plastic cleaning line.
Automatic or semi-automatic conveying can move plastic from shredding to washing, separation, dewatering, drying, and final collection.
Proper conveyor design helps maintain stable material flow and reduce manual handling.
The conveying system can be configured according to the equipment layout, plant dimensions, material type, and required production flow.
PET Bottle Washing
PET bottles often contain labels, caps, dirt, organic residues, and other contaminants. A suitable PET washing line can include bottle crushing, label separation, prewashing, friction washing, rinsing, floating separation, dewatering, and drying.
The exact configuration depends on the required final cleanliness and downstream recycling process.
PET flakes can then be transferred to further sorting, drying, extrusion, or other processing stages.
PP and PE Plastic Washing
PP and PE materials are widely used in packaging, agricultural film, woven bags, containers, and industrial products.
The washing line can be configured for suitable PP and PE waste streams. Film and rigid plastics may require different shredding, feeding, washing, and drying arrangements.
For heavily contaminated agricultural film, additional pre-cleaning and sand removal stages may be considered.
Agricultural Plastic Recycling
Agricultural plastic waste can contain soil, sand, organic matter, moisture, and plant residues. This contamination can make recycling more challenging than processing relatively clean industrial scrap.
A suitable washing line can combine dry pre-cleaning, shredding, wet washing, friction cleaning, rinsing, and dewatering to prepare the material for further recycling.
The actual process should be designed according to the contamination level and plastic type.
High-Efficiency Production Flow
An integrated washing line can reduce manual material transfer between individual machines.
A typical process may include feeding → shredding → crushing → prewashing → friction washing → density separation → rinsing → dewatering → drying → clean plastic collection.
Not every project requires all of these stages. Equipment can be selected according to the feedstock and required output quality.
Easy Operation and Maintenance
A properly designed plastic washing line can centralize machine operation and monitoring.
Control systems can coordinate motors, pumps, conveyors, washing equipment, and other components according to the selected configuration.
Routine maintenance may include cleaning screens, inspecting blades, checking bearings, maintaining pumps, removing accumulated contaminants, and monitoring wear components.
Regular maintenance helps support stable operation and consistent material flow.
Customized Recycling Solutions
Plastic waste streams differ considerably from one recycling facility to another. A line designed for PET bottles may not be appropriate for heavily contaminated agricultural film or mixed rigid plastics without modification.
Customers can provide information about plastic type, contamination level, moisture content, particle size, required capacity, desired output cleanliness, and downstream processing.
Based on these requirements, the washing process and equipment combination can be evaluated for the specific recycling application.
