The gas cabinet comes with a set of overpressure protection devices to prevent overpressure in the gas cabinet in an emergency. Antifreeze can be added to the water seal to meet the needs of severe cold conditions. Stainless steel guide rails and H-ilti  expansion bolts are used for on-site positioning and installation without pre-embedding, which is conducive to civil construction and installation is quick and fast.

The Flexible Double Membrane Biogas Storage Tank is a flexible gas storage solution designed for biogas plants, anaerobic digestion systems, agricultural biogas projects, wastewater treatment facilities, and organic waste treatment applications. It provides temporary storage for biogas generated during anaerobic digestion and helps balance gas production with downstream gas consumption.

Biogas production is influenced by feedstock characteristics, digestion conditions, organic loading, temperature, retention time, and biological activity. At the same time, gas consumption from generators, boilers, heating systems, or gas upgrading equipment can vary throughout the day. A flexible storage tank provides a buffer between these two processes, helping the overall biogas system operate more smoothly.

The double membrane configuration uses an inner gas storage membrane and an outer protective membrane. The inner membrane expands and contracts according to the amount of stored gas, while the outer membrane supports the structure and protects the inner membrane from environmental exposure. Depending on the project requirements, the system can be equipped with appropriate pressure control, gas pipelines, monitoring devices, safety components, and auxiliary equipment.

Membrane material

The fully imported biogas-specific membrane has flame retardant, antibacterial, and anti-UV properties, and meets the following standards: the sunlight fastness meets the DIN54004 level 7 standard, the flame retardant performance meets the DIN 4102 B1 design standard, and the thermal expansion and contraction resistance meets the DIN53361 standard. , the waterproofness complies with DIN 51635 standards, and the ductility meets DIN 53359 standards.

Flexible Double Membrane Design

The flexible double membrane structure is designed to accommodate changing gas volumes without requiring a rigid gas storage vessel. As biogas enters the tank, the inner membrane expands. When gas is consumed, the stored volume decreases.

This flexible operating principle makes the system suitable for biogas plants where gas production and gas utilization are not perfectly synchronized.

The outer membrane maintains the overall form of the gas storage structure and provides an additional protective layer. Proper anchoring and structural support are important for safe and reliable operation.

Biogas Storage For Biogas Plants

A biogas plant typically includes anaerobic digestion, gas collection, gas treatment, storage, and utilization equipment. The gas storage system serves as an intermediate stage between biogas generation and final utilization.

The double membrane storage tank can be connected to anaerobic digesters and downstream equipment such as biogas generators, boilers, gas upgrading systems, or other suitable gas utilization units.

By providing temporary storage, the tank can help accommodate short-term differences between biogas production and gas consumption.

Anaerobic Digestion Gas Storage

Anaerobic digestion converts biodegradable organic matter into biogas under oxygen-limited conditions. Common feedstocks include livestock manure, agricultural residues, food waste, organic wastewater, and other suitable biodegradable materials.

Biogas generally contains methane and carbon dioxide, together with moisture, hydrogen sulfide, and other trace components. The exact composition depends on the feedstock and digestion process.

The storage tank should therefore be designed according to the actual gas composition and downstream application. Gas purification or conditioning may be required before the biogas is supplied to sensitive equipment.

Agricultural And Livestock Biogas Projects

Agricultural facilities and livestock farms can produce substantial quantities of organic waste. Anaerobic digestion can convert suitable manure and agricultural residues into biogas while providing a controlled method of organic waste treatment.

The flexible double membrane storage tank can be integrated with farm digesters and supporting equipment such as manure separation systems, feedstock preparation equipment, biogas desulfurization units, dehydration systems, gas generators, and digestate processing equipment.

Storage capacity should be determined according to expected biogas production, gas utilization requirements, and the operating schedule of the complete farm biogas system.

Wastewater Treatment Applications

Anaerobic wastewater treatment can generate biogas when wastewater contains sufficient biodegradable organic matter and suitable process conditions are maintained.

The double membrane gas tank can temporarily store the resulting biogas before it is treated or utilized. Potential downstream applications include power generation, boiler fuel, heating, or gas upgrading.

Wastewater characteristics such as organic concentration, pH, temperature, salinity, suspended solids, and potentially inhibitory compounds should be considered when designing the complete anaerobic treatment and gas storage system.

Organic Waste Biogas Storage

Food waste and other biodegradable organic materials can be processed through anaerobic digestion to produce biogas. Organic waste projects may experience variations in daily feedstock volume and gas production.

A flexible gas storage system provides additional operational flexibility by allowing temporary storage of gas during periods of higher production.

Depending on the waste characteristics, pretreatment such as screening, crushing, mixing, separation, or other processing may be required before anaerobic digestion.

Gas Storage Capacity Configuration

The required storage volume depends on the gas production rate, gas consumption, peak demand, desired buffer period, and overall process design.

A storage tank that is too small may provide insufficient buffering during periods of high gas production. An oversized system may increase project cost and installation requirements without providing additional practical value.

For this reason, gas storage capacity should be evaluated together with the digester capacity, expected daily biogas production, downstream equipment, operating schedule, and project objectives.

Biogas Pressure Management

Appropriate pressure management is important for flexible biogas storage. The actual operating pressure depends on membrane design, gas utilization equipment, pipeline arrangement, and pressure control components.

The storage system can be integrated with suitable pressure monitoring and control devices to help maintain stable gas delivery.

Pressure protection and safety systems should be selected according to the complete plant design and applicable local requirements.

Weather-Resistant Outdoor Installation

Double membrane biogas storage systems are generally designed for outdoor installation. The membrane materials and supporting structure should be selected according to local climate and project conditions.

Important environmental factors can include ultraviolet exposure, temperature fluctuations, wind, humidity, rainfall, and installation elevation.

Proper foundation construction, anchoring, drainage, ventilation, and routine inspection are essential for long-term system reliability.

Biogas Purification And Storage Integration

The storage tank can be integrated with upstream and downstream gas treatment equipment. Depending on the gas quality and final application, biogas may require desulfurization, dehydration, filtration, cooling, or other conditioning.

For example, hydrogen sulfide can be corrosive to certain downstream equipment, while moisture can affect pipelines and gas utilization systems. Appropriate gas treatment should therefore be considered as part of the complete biogas plant.

The storage tank itself should not be regarded as a substitute for required gas purification equipment.

Biogas Power Generation

One common application is storing biogas before supplying it to a gas engine generator. Gas storage can help provide a more stable gas supply when biogas production fluctuates.

Before entering the generator, the gas may require appropriate cleaning and conditioning according to the engine manufacturer's requirements.

The complete system can include an anaerobic digester, gas storage tank, desulfurization equipment, dehydration equipment, filtration, gas engine generator, and electrical control system.

Flexible Project Integration

The double membrane gas tank can be incorporated into different biogas plant configurations. It can be used with agricultural digesters, industrial anaerobic reactors, wastewater treatment systems, food waste digesters, and other suitable biogas projects.

The tank can also be combined with other gas storage or treatment equipment according to the required process flow.

For international B2B projects, customers can provide project drawings, expected gas production, tank volume requirements, site conditions, and gas utilization information for technical evaluation.

Safety And Maintenance

Biogas is combustible and may contain hydrogen sulfide and other components requiring appropriate safety management. Gas storage systems should therefore include suitable safety and monitoring arrangements.

Depending on the project, these may include pressure monitoring, gas detection, emergency protection, flame protection, ventilation, overflow protection, and other appropriate safety equipment.

Routine inspection should cover membrane condition, anchoring, structural components, gas connections, valves, pressure devices, and associated equipment. Maintenance procedures should follow the project design and operating instructions.
